egg retrieval - two and three days after

Friday, July 27th rolled around before I knew it.  I was much more patient in my wait for an update on my embryos since I had just spoken to my embryologist the day before.  She let me know at that time that they try to make all of their embryo updates to patients in the morning so I knew I wouldn't have to wait long for her to call me again.

I prayed and prayed for good news until she called around 9 am.  We still had 16 embryos left!  A sweet 16!  Praise God!  She didn't offer up any additional information so I asked if she could tell the quality of our embryos yet.  She said one was a level 3 and the rest were level 2s, and that the level 3s generally don't last very long.  I am not familiar with their grading system but I didn't ask for clarification.  I was just so excited to have 16 embryos still going strong (well, 15 still going strong since the one sounded like it wasn't going to make it much longer - but I didn't let that get me down)!

The embryologist said she would not call again with another update until Sunday, July 29th.  I debated whether to call the lab myself on Saturday but ultimately I decided to enjoy the day and try not to think about IF at all.  That proved to be impossible as I continued to pray that our embryos would survive another day, grow stronger, be upgraded to a level 1, and that God would help prepare a nice home for one or two of our embryos for the next nine months.

The Saturday before our transfer was a good day (July 28th).  I had a one hour massage in the morning with my regular masseuse, then DH and I borrowed his brother's fishing boat for an afternoon of crappie and walleye fishing.  His brother sent us on a wild goose chase to this lake he had heard about from a buddy.  It took us FOREVER to find the lake, and then the public access ramp.  But we finally made it onto the water and fished away...and caught a big fat NOTHING!  Well, DH caught two tiny bass that had to be thrown back, but other than that, the lake was a dud.  I prepared my speech to give to DH's brother when we returned to drop his boat off, but lucky for him, he was taking a nap.  I like DH's brother, btw, we just like to give each other a hard time - all in good fun.  ; )

We arrived home again that evening and I took to the couch for some relaxing.  My meds were still making me feel a bit nauseated and very bloated so actually going out on a lake was quite an accomplishment for me during this IVF cycle.

Then I tried not to think about IVF (fail), and I tried to wait patiently for Sunday's update on our embryos. *Sigh*
